When the Android 7.0 Nougat and the subsequent Android 7.1 Nougat updates were released, they were met with mixed reactions from the public. These Android software updates were a mixed bag of improvements and problems.
Android 7.0 made the notification drawer more functional, and the split screen mode was a nice touch. Android 7.1, a refresh exclusive to Pixel and Nexus devices, improved a couple of things by adding an App Shortcuts feature and a Seamless Updates mechanism.
There were a couple of things that irked users though, particularly those who were using Pixel and Nexus devices. One of the problems was the connectivity issues experienced while using the LTE band 4. Many users experienced spotty or fluctuating connection problems while using LTE band 4 (1700MHz).
Android 7.1.1 was created to solve the internet connection problem experienced by Pixel and Nexus users. Unlike the previous software refresh, the 7.1.1 underwent beta testing in order to identify problems ahead of its public release.
True enough, the update resolved the LTE band 4 connectivity issue; however, a couple of issues still managed to slipped through the cracks as problems continue to plague mobile device users.
Problems Reported With Android 7.1.1
Shortly after the refresh was made, Google’s Nexus forums were filled with complaints from its users. Dissatisfied users also took to Twitter to express their outrage. Some even expressed regret and wished they did not update their phones with the new software update.
@Android I guess I shouldn't have done that update to 7.1.1 on my 6p. Now the Bluetooth is jacked up

Download Issues
Some users claimed battery issues continue to persist, and there were reports of phones shutting down even when there is still a lot of battery capacity left. There were also reports of freezes, lag issues, and random reboots. Some phones also had difficulties signing in to a Wi-Fi connection, while others observed that the mobile apps they uploaded started acting up.
There were still reports of Bluetooth connectivity problems even with this latest release, as well as problems with Bluetooth pairing with cars.
Android 7.1.2
As Google’s OTA software update picks up in the coming days, expect more complaints to come in various community forums and social sites. Google is reportedly planning another release in the future for Android. But since Android 7.1.2 will take a while to happen, you will probably be left on your own devices for the meantime.
But before you have your Android phone repaired or replaced, why not try to do a little bit of troubleshooting on your own? For the next installment on this mini-series, we’ll feature troubleshooting steps that will fix the most common Nougat problems.
