In 2022, Apple launched its iPhone 14 series. Now, they are busy with the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro in 2023. There will be many upgrades to iPhone 15, which will make it unique from the early series. It includes USB-C and a titanium body. Keeping the updates under wraps has led to limited information. There are speculations that the iPhone 15 Pro could be rebranded as the iPhone 15 Ultra, inspired by the success of the Apple Watch Ultra, as per Bloomberg’s Ming-Chi.
iPhone 15 upgrades
Some of the key upgrades are as below.
- USB-C Port/thunderbolt 3
The unique iPhone charger will be replaced by the universal USB-C 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 transfer speeds. Both will enhance the data transfers by 20-40Gbps.
- Titanium Body
The series will feature a rounded body made of titanium with a glass back panel. Titanium, possessing strength comparable to stainless steel, boasts enhanced durability.
- Periscope lens
It will be using a periscope camera, which is a combination of mirrors or a prism to bend light. The cameras will have a new periscope lens which will offer higher optical zoom. Smartphone makers like Samsung and Huawei have applied the same concept to develop periscope modules for cameras, enhancing their zooming range. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra features a higher optical periscope lens, providing up to 100x digital zoom.
There are some major camera upgrades for iPhone 15. It will include three cameras: a 12 MP telephoto camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 48 MP wide-angle primary camera with OIS.
The display is 6.7 inches and the 4700 mAh battery. The series will include haptic buttons for improved water resistance and durability by eliminating potential wear and tear from moving parts. Additionally, it will come at a higher price compared to the iPhone 14 series.
